DIY or full dealer install, here is where you make or break your pool installation - the pool deck. The typical full install done in the area around our facility has about 500-700 square feet of concrete. That is enough to do 4 feet around the deep end and sides and 6 feet around the shallow end. Custom installs can be 3-5 times that amount. Bigger isn't better, better is better, so plan this out carefully with your dealer.

There are two options for pouring the deck: standard and cantilever. In a standard deck, the concrete come up to the edge of the pool, leaving an exposed band of fiberglass around the pool. In the cantilever deck, the concrete is poured up to and over the edge of the pool. When combined with tile, this is a very striking finish. There are many other choices: stamped concrete, slate, rock, washed aggregate, brick pavers, cool deck, and the list goes on...

Whatever you choose, this single step will set the tone of the pool area and the decision is pivotal in achieving your desired architectural statement.
